Business

In 1909 the 'Boundary Waters Treaty' established the amount of water that could be diverted from the mighty Niagara River for use on both the Canadian and U.S. sides of the international boundary.

Shown here - A hydro canal running several miles through the city of Niagara Falls, Canada. The canals divert water from the upper Niagara River to reservoirs used to feed generators situated along the lower Niagara river.
Power stations on both the Canadian and U.S. sides of the international boundary continue to refit generators for increased efficiency and power generation.
